"Off the Mark" Released on OTT

Afsana Mimi is renowned not only as an actress but also as a director. She first took on the role of a director in 2000 with the television series “Bondhon.” Since then, she has created several dramas, including “Poush Faguner Pala,” “Sare Tin Tola,” and “Doll’s House.” This time, Mimi has directed a web film.
From Thursday, May 30, Mimi’s web film “Off the Mark” is available on the OTT platform iScreen,which is produced by Faridur Reza Sagor. The film revolves around the story of a boy named Dipu who dreams of becoming a cricketer. Coming from a middle-class family in a small town, Dipu has always aspired to be a cricketer since his childhood. However, his father disapproves of his cricketing ambitions. He wants him to focus on academics and secure a high-paying job.
Despite his father’s opposition, Dipu’s mother supports his dream. She mortgages their land to provide him with money. Dipu enrolls in a cricket academy. After that,they realize that the institution is a scam. Faced with this dilemma, Dipu remains undeterred and continues to seek new opportunities.
Afsana Mimi explains that the story is about a 14-year-old boy’s journey to fulfill his dream, highlighting the sacrifices and struggles of his mother. She notes that the story is quite simple, and she aimed to keep this simplicity in the film’s as well.
Most of “Off the Mark” was shot in Bagerhat. Arham was finalized for the role of Dipu there, marking his first appearance on an OTT platform. The other cast of “Off the Mark” includes Mostafizur Noor Imran, Sharmin Akhter Shormi, Hayatuzzaman Khan, Khalid Hasan Rumi, Ariba, Anas, Shamsul Hadi, Ashraful Alam, and Tamanna Islam, among others.
