The Uronto Artist Community, in partnership with the Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation, presents a captivating exhibition titled “Recollected/স্মরণ.” This exhibition is going to be held at Alliance Francaise Gulshan and is set to open today, Saturday, 2 March 2024, at 5 pm.
“Recollected” is a distinctive exhibition to showcase a range of multidisciplinary artworks inspired by the history, culture, and local contemporary narratives from two architectural heritages in Sunamganj district in Bangladesh, known as the Gourarang Jaminder Palace and the Shukhair Jaminder Palace.
All these creative works are the outcome of an art intervention organized by Uronto in Sunamganj in January 2024. where a group of artists from various practices visited the site, explored the current narrative and previous histories, and got involved with the community in the surroundings of those little-known heritage buildings.
Through various artistic mediums like painting, drawing, photography, ceramic work, printmaking, installation, theater performances and workshops, and other events, we aim to revisit the stories and memories within the heritage sites. Each artwork offers a unique glimpse into the lives and legacies of generations gone by, inviting viewers to rediscover and re-engage with the hidden gems of Bangladesh.
Through a blend of stories, art, and creative expression, “Recollected/স্মরণ” aims to celebrate heritage, bridge the gap between the past and present, and promote social responsibility in the sustainable preservation of antiquities for future generations.
Visitors can immerse themselves in this unique experience until Wednesday, 20 March 2024, with the exhibition open to all from Monday to Saturday, from 3 to 9 pm.
