Israeli Security Chief Vows to Hunt Down Hamas Leaders

Ronen Bar, the head of Israel’s domestic intelligence agency, Shin Bet, publicly announced that they would “assassinate senior Hamas officials everywhere”. A recording of his statement was broadcasted by Kan 11 news, Israel’s public news channel.

Bar stated that the assassinations would be the “Munich of our generation”, referring to Mossad’s assassination of individuals who were accused of being involved in 1972 Munich massacre. “We will do this everywhere, in Gaza, in the West Bank, in Lebanon, in Turkey, in Qatar. It will take a few years but we will be there to do it” he said in the recording, reaffirming the organization’s goal of eliminating Hamas leadership.

Hamas reportedly responded that it is unfazed by the threats and that if the Shin Bet were to carry out their threats, it would be a violation of allied countries’ sovereignty. They also added that Bar’s remarks reflected the “political and military crisis the enemy is in due to the resilience of the Palestinian people and the courageous resistance forces.”
