The International Court of Justice will hold its first hearing in South Africa’s genocide case against Israel on Thursday. It will begin at 09:00 GMT on Thursday and will be live streamed on UN TV. Israel has sent their top legal minds, including a Holocaust survivor, to counter the allegations that it is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The UN Security Council has passed a resolution demanding Houthi rebels to cease their attacks in the Red Sea and to release the Japanese-operated Galaxy Leader that was seized last year. Since commandeering the Galaxy Leader, the Yemeni rebels have carried out 26 attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea. According to private intelligence firm Ambrey, the US military has shot down 21 drones and missiles launched by Houthi rebel from the Yemeni port cities of Hodeidah and Mokha.
Airstrikes and bombardment continue to ravage the besieged Palestinian enclave, with seven confirmed deaths in Rafah and eight confirmed deaths near Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Hospital in Deir al-Balah. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 23,357 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7th. More than 59,410 people have been wounded in the same time frame.
