Dhaka Makers 2: A Four-Day Feast of Art, Music, Craft, and Creativity Comes to a Successful Close
Staff Reporter
The second edition of Dhaka Makers, an independent arts and crafts festival, unfolded at the Aloki Convention Center on February 1, 2024, and concluded successfully after four vibrant days. Established as a lively platform for local contemporary artists, the festival aimed to showcase their work and nurture connections within the creative community.
Over the four days, attendees engaged in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts workshops, exploring a lively Makers’ Market with over 100 vendors, admiring the creations at the art gallery named Jadughar, featuring works from 85 artists, and indulging in delectable treats at the food pavilion curated by Sameera Wadood.
Following the widespread acclaim of its inaugural event last June, the organizers introduced an entry fee this year. The art gallery presented a diverse collection from over 75 artists, showcasing paintings of various mediums, each uniquely highlighting the artist’s central theme. Alongside conversation-starter sculptures, immersive neon-fueled light shows added an extra layer of intrigue after sundown.
Dhaka Makers 2 proved to be more than just an art exhibition; it celebrated creativity, interaction, and the vibrant spirit of the makers’ community.
