Spring and Love Blossoming Together!!

Bangladesh will be celebrating the first day of spring along with Valentine’s Day. The 14th February, a casual workday, but it will be a special day for the people of Bangladesh since two occasions will be celebrated simultaneously.

Valentine’s Day became a part of Bangladeshi culture amongst the young generation during 1980s. The young generation people exchange different designers greeting cards, heart shaped balloons, chocolates, gifts and flower bouquet. A bouquet of red roses are the most popular amongst them. All the popular shops have decorated a special counter with red and pink accessories, so that people in love can purchase gifts for their loved ones.

Bangladesh will also be celebrating the first day of spring tomorrow according to the Bengali calendar as the first day of the month of Falgun will start. Spring is the month of flowers blooming and end of chilly cold winters. The dress code is orange and yellow for any Falgun celebrations. Girls wear orange or yellow sarees followed by a flower in their hair as accessories. Fairs and cultural events are organised by different schools and universities to celebrate this festival.
