Prioritizing Climate Research Projects and Evaluating BCCT Initiatives: Environment Secretary's Directives
Farhina Ahmed, the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, emphasised at a nationwide workshop the importance of giving research and creative initiatives supported by the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust Fund (BCCT) top priority. The goal of the workshop was to present the assessment reports of 45 projects that the Sirdap International Conference Center’s BCCT funding enabled to be implemented between 2009 and 2017.
Ahmed underlined that in order to improve the acceptability and effectiveness of BCCT’s operations, quick action based on professional advice is required. The evaluation panel’s team leader, Fazle Rabbi Sadek Ahmed, delivered the final draft report, which included specific recommendations for better project management, ensuring legal compliance, and matching initiatives to theme goals and budget usage criteria.
In order to improve the results of efforts for climate change adaptation and mitigation, the Secretary emphasized the significance of moving quickly to streamline project management, from the receiving of proposals through monitoring, assessment, and reporting. High-ranking officials and representatives from a range of public and private organizations attended the workshop led by Zainal Abedin, Managing Director of BCCT, which focused on the sustainability and efficacy of climate change projects in Bangladesh over the long term.
