EC and EU Delegation's Conference to Take Place Today

The European Union(EU) is set to hold a conference with the Election Commission (EC) today (November 29) regarding the appointment of presiding officers during the upcoming 12th parliamentary election. They are to be joined by 10 EU delegates.

According to the sources of EC, on November 22nd, EU ambassador Charles Whiteley emailed the Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal for a meeting on 27th November at 3 pm. The meeting was set for 29th November instead.

According to the EC officers, due to being constantly on the road for field visits of the elections, the meeting had to be held two days later than the one asked by the EU ambassador.

Meanwhile, the European Union has informed that they will send a team of 5 presiding members, with two technical experts.

According to EC’s line-up, the national election will take place on 7th January. 87 presiding officers of several organizations have already applied to watch over the elections so far.

Apart from that, the Election Commission has invited 34 countries and 144 members of 4 associations to watch the voting.
