51st Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society: Embracing Humanity Amid Global Challenges

The 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) was centred on the resilience and essence of mankind. Leading speakers in the management council meeting, chaired by Major General ATM Abdul Wahhab (retd.), included the president, the prime minister, and the minister of health. They emphasised the significance of the incident in their statements.

Major General ATM Abdul Wahhab underlined the growing global issues of conflict, violence, forced migration, and emigration while emphasising the BDRCS’s priority on building local capacities to confront such crises. He praised the Prime Minister for allocating 46.9 million taka towards the development of a modern, ten-story building for the Red Crescent and acknowledged the cooperation of the government.

The vice chairman of the organisation, Abduch Salam, welcomed the eminent guests from the IFRC and ICRC and spoke briefly. The AGM accepted the 2023 Annual Report, approved the proposed budget for 2024, and approved the minutes from the previous AGM.

Key discussions centred on expressing gratitude for government assistance and enhancing society’s preparedness for unforeseen events. The gathering emphasised the necessity for ongoing efforts and initiatives, underlining the BDRCS’s commitment to serving mankind in view of the increasing number of global challenges.
