2024 Emmy Awards: Succession, The Bear and Beef Dominate
The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards were handed out in Los Angeles on Monday night.
“Succession” won the award for best drama series overall with lead cast members Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, and Matthew Macfadyen winning the awards for best lead actor, actress and supporting actor respectively. All in all, “Succession” received 27 nominations for its fourth and final season and brought home six Emmys.
“The Bear” – a comedy drama series about a chef who returns home to run his deceased brother’s sandwich shop won best comedy series. Lead star Jeremy Allen White and supporting actors Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach also won awards for their outstanding acting performances.
“Succession” and “The Bear” won six prizes each in the drama and comedy categories respectively while Netflix’s “Beef” dominated the limited series categories. Lead stars, Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, were both awarded best actress and actor in a limited series respectively.
“Better Call Saul”, the critically acclaimed prequel to “Breaking Bad” was nominated for seven Emmys but failed to win in any of the categories. The show ran for six seasons and was nominated 53 times in total. However, unlike “Breaking Bad”, the prequel show unfortunately did not win any awards.
